American Rock Maple

(Acer saccharum)

Another common name for this timber is Sugar Maple. Its sweet sap is the source of Maple Syrup.

An attractive and relatively "hard" timber, Maple is commonly used in solid form for furniture, joinery and flooring (particularly good for bowling alleys), however, it is more frequently used in veneer applications. With a creamy grain in yellow white through to red-brown coloration. The growth rings can give a distinctive figure to the surface.
